£230,000 boost for Barrow arts organisation Art Gene
A Barrow arts charity has been awarded £230,000 to continue its work over the next three years.
Art Gene, based in the Nan Tait Centre on Abbey Road, has been given £239,957 from Arts Council England and the Department of Digital, Culture Media and Sport as part of its latest round of funding.
Art Gene said it would secure its future of delivering creative community work and help support new artists’ residencies and exhibitions. The gallery and studios run by Art Gene will stay open.
Maddi Nicholson, artist, founder and director of Art Gene said: “It’s fabulous news. We’re delighted to secure a place in Arts Council England’s new National Portfolio of core funded organisations. I’d like to thank our staff and trustees for their hard work, as well as all our supporters. The recognition for our creativity and the investment in Barrow really matters to us.”
